Program Units
Module 1: Understanding Special Educational Needs (SEN) (30 Credits) This module provides a foundation in the various types of special educational needs, including learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and sensory impairments. Participants learn about the impact of these needs on learning and development and effective approaches to support students.
Module 2: Assessment and Identification in Special Needs Education (30 Credits) This module focuses on the principles and practices of assessing and identifying the needs of learners with SEND. It covers the use of various assessment tools, data interpretation, and the process of developing individualized support plans.
Module 3: Inclusive Teaching Strategies and Intervention (30 Credits) This module focuses on creating an accessible learning environment for all students. Topics include differentiated instruction, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), adapting lesson plans to meet diverse needs, and implementing effective intervention strategies.
Module 4: Collaboration and Advocacy in Special Needs Support (30 Credits) This module examines the importance of working with families, other educators, and specialists. Topics include effective communication, teamwork, and understanding Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to support students with special needs, as well as advocating for inclusive practices.
